Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of football scholarship for his parents and commitment in the local community. First family he is the youngest of the nine children Lucious and Jessie Selmon. They grew up on the farm of Eufala, Oklahoma. The Selmons were also among the three siblings that represented Oklahoma on the field of football. Three of them were All-Americans. One year 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy was named the most offensive lineman in the national by Outland Lombardi, Outland and the Outland Awards. In the three seasons he was the Oklahoma's starting line-up The Sooners finished three-and-a-half and won two championships. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975, and was named as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy spent ten hours each week working as a volunteer in his college days. In Tampa where he played, he joined the Buccaneers over nine years and was an all-pro. In addition, he began his career in the field of business. He was an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as a member of the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as being among 10 of America's top young males. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs when his college football career began. He was a captain in 1975. was the captain of the team. In 1993, he was a part of at the University of South Florida as assistant director of athletics. In 1988 the year he was a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. He also made it into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 handed out their Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma gave it to them.
